In India, religion has never been a simply creed but rather it is a way of life and therefore, we need to view religious fundamentalism from this angle because it encompasses all areas of private and public life. Religion is not a private affair but communitarian in nature, therefore, religious fundamentalism in Indian context creates communal tensions or communalism, divisive culture and politicisation of religions.
