General note |
Social Problems in India analyses the social systems in India. The author Ram Ahuja says that it is important to understand the nature of a society and how changes occur. According to him, changes in society alter the conditions of the system for the sake of survival or otherwise they will perish. The present book explores how changes occur in our country and what adjustments are made within Indian society.
Social Problems in India is now available as a revised edition, which is enlarged as well. The difference from the older edition is that three more chapters have been added. The new chapters deal with corruption, bonded labour, and AIDS. The following problems, which were discussed in the previous edition, are also updated: terrorism, communal violence, drug abuse, and alcoholism, violence against women, illiteracy, child abuse, youth unrest, juvenile delinquency, poverty, black money, population explosion, unemployment, and urbanization.
Additional comments and arguments covering the latest developments have been included. The new edition continues to retain all the features of the 1st edition.
The author has attempted to analyse and evaluate the problems keeping the social aspects of the issues in mind in Social Problems in India. The same have been theoretically supported as and when needed. This, the author claims, has added the academic appeal of the book to not only the students but also many other readers such as administrators, planners, and policy makers.
Social Problems in India deals with the following topics: Social Problems: Concept and Approaches, Population Explosion, Poverty, Unemployment, Youth Unrest and Agitations, Alcoholism, Illiteracy, Crime and Criminals, Child Abuse and Child Labour, Juvenile Delinquency, Bonded Labour, Violence Against Women, AIDS, Secularism, and Regionalization, Communication, Drug Abuse and Drug Addiction, Backward Castes, Urbanization, Tribes and Classes, Terrorism, and Black Money and Corruption.
Social Problems in India has been well received by the administrative as well as academic circles.
|
